Why Take a Cold Water Dip?

๐ŸงŠโœจ The Surprising Health Benefits of a Cold Water Dip — and How You Can Try It at Pinewood Park!

When the sun’s blazing and the days are long, what could be more refreshing than an invigorating dip in fresh, cold water? It might sound a bit extreme, but cold water plunges are becoming a huge wellness trend — and for good reason!

At Pinewood Park, our cosy Woodcutters Retreats come with your very own wood-fired hot tub — but did you know you can also use it as a cold plunge tub for a burst of health benefits and a big dose of feel-good energy?

โ„๏ธ Why Take a Cold Water Dip?

Cold water therapy has been popular for centuries and is linked to a whole host of benefits, including:
โœ…
Boosted mood & mental clarity — The shock of cold water can release endorphins, helping lift your mood and ease stress.
โœ…
Improved circulation — Cold water stimulates blood flow, which can help reduce inflammation and muscle soreness.
โœ…
Better sleep — Many people find that a cold dip followed by warming up naturally helps them drift off into a deeper sleep.
โœ…
Strengthened immunity — Regular cold plunges are said to support a healthy immune system.

Plus, when the weather is warm, what better way to cool down naturally?

๐ŸŒฟ How It Works at Pinewood Park

When you book a Woodcutters Retreat, your hot tub is freshly filled with crystal-clear, chemical-free water ready for you to light the wood burner — or leave it cold for a bracing plunge!

Some of our guests LOVE trying the tub cold, especially during heatwaves. Not only does it feel amazing, but it’s also £15 cheaper per night if you don’t require wood.

๐ŸงŠ How to Book Your Cold Plunge

It’s super simple:
โœ”๏ธ Book your
Woodcutters Retreat as normal
โœ”๏ธ In the
‘Additional Notes’ section, just write ‘COLD TUB’
โœ”๏ธ We’ll knock
£15 per night off your booking total — and you’ll arrive to a fresh, icy dip waiting for you!

Whether you light the fire and sink into a hot soak under the stars, or bravely embrace a revitalising cold plunge, your tub is yours to enjoy however you wish.

Thinking about a glamping break but not sure what to pack? Whether it’s your first stay or your fifth, here’s a no-stress guide to the essentials — including some handy extras to make your stay extra cosy. Based on what guests love most about glamping at places like Pinewood Park in Scarborough , this list works for all types of glamping in the UK. 1. Comfy Clothing for All Weathers Glamping may be more luxurious than camping, but the British weather can still be unpredictable! Layers, waterproofs, and something warm for evenings around the fire are a must. 2. Footwear for Exploring Bring boots or wellies for countryside walks, and a comfier pair for relaxing at your glamping spot. Sandals or flip-flops are handy for hot tubs too! 3. Towels & Robes Some sites (like us here at Pinewood!) include bedding in some cabins, but not always towels. Bring extra for hot tub dips or beach visits. 4. Torches or Fairy Lights Even if your pod, hut, or wagon has lighting, a torch is useful for late-night toilet trips — or bring battery-powered fairy lights to make things extra magical. 5. Food & Drinks Essentials While many glamping units have fridges, kettles or BBQs, a cool box and reusable tableware always come in handy. At Pinewood Park, we are only 2 miles from Scarborough town centre, so not a lot of cooking goes on up here.....which is always a bonus for the cook in the family! After all....you are on holiday! 6. Charging Cables & Power Banks Some accommodation includes electric hook-up; others don’t. A fully charged power bank can be a lifesaver (especially with teens!). 7. Games & Entertainment Card games, books, or even outdoor games like rounders or boules are great for screen-free time. 8. Toiletries & First Aid Bits Eco-friendly soaps, toothbrushes, and a mini first-aid kit go a long way — especially with little ones around. 9. Beach Day Bag If you're staying near the coast (hello, Scarborough!), pack a beach towel, sun cream, and bucket & spade so you’re ready for spontaneous seaside fun. 10. That One Luxury Item It’s glamping after all — not boot camp. Whether it’s a bottle of fizz, your favourite throw, or a speaker for music, bring one thing that makes it feel like your perfect escape. ๏ปฟ
